I was all excited to go to my cardiology appointment (okay I was excited to get out of the house, I didn't actually know where I was going or what I would be in for). Mommy should have known it would not be a good appointment when I freaked out when the nurse tried to get my weight, height and blood pressure. I was up to 31 inches and 21 lbs. 9 ozs - my last weight was before the cast was removed and I was 20 lbs. 5 ozs. so Mommy was excited I had put on some weight.
Six months ago when I had my EKG and echocardiogram it was no big deal because Mommy brought my videos to keep me entertained. This time around even Elmo's Potty Time couldn't make me happy. I thrashed and kicked when the nurse tried to attach the leads for the EKG so she finally gave up and said she'll try it again in six months. After a 20 minute wait I then went on to another room and nurse for the echocardiogram. Mommy gives her a lot of credit, the nurse proceeded slowly with me, trying to make friends, talking to me about the Elmo video but as soon as she got close to put the gel on me I started crying - and that was that. So it was back to the exam room to wait for Dr Choy to take a look at me. Since he couldn't look at the EKG and echo results, he just listened to my heart and decided I was close to where I was six months ago and he would like me back to try this again in six months. He assured Mommy that I was in that fun age (usually kids between 1-3) where kids kicked and screamed the nurses tried to do the standard tests so unless it is critical he would rather not traumatize me. Mommy was all on board with that and so was I. In fact, Dr Choy could tell I was rather a drama queen and he is a little concerned that I have already caught on to the game - cry and I don't have to get the tests done - so he is really curious to see what I am like six months from now when we do this again.
In the evening, Mommy was really disappointed when about 20 minutes after my last feeding I threw up most of it (yes, all over her and I both). She is concerned that the vomiting is becoming more frequent and more of a pattern so she is going to try to call my GI this week to get some advice - is it too much volume, is it reflux rearing it's ugly head again or is it a problem tolerating the formula like I've experienced in the past. Wish Mommy and my GI luck that we get this figured out - she's only been back home a few days and she is back to multiple loads of laundry due to vomiting. Welcome back Mommy!

  1. Hi honey,
We're sorry you had such a rough day visiting with your dr. He sounds like he does not have much of a bedside manner if he can't understand your being a little traumatized by it all. Here you thought you were heading out for fun and games, and were getting poked and prodded by strange people.
Granma is on your side on this one Peyton! We loved watching you go down the slide, and your karate
    moves are right on!
We hope your tummy is feeling better honey.
    All our love,
    Granpa and Granma Mower
