In anticipation of my first day of school tomorrow, Daddy, Mommy and I stopped by Park Lane Elementary to check out the school.  Since Daddy, Aunt Kristin and Uncle Jason all have spent time attending Park Lane, it seems only fitting that a second generation of Smith/Foxes should be going as well.  I can't wait!

 I can't get enough of ponies and horsies so luckily Jackson doesn't mind them either.  After feeding the ducks at Wheeler Farm we waited so we could get a chance at a pony ride.  With the cowboy hats that were provided it added that special touch to the ride!

A note from Mommy:

Today she is five.  For many reasons 5 is a milestone, one of those being that she starts kindergarten in just a few days.  But 5 is a milestone from a medical standpoint as well.  When she was just months old we had a goal to have the trach out before she went off to school but that is not to be.  And that is okay.  Completely and totally okay.  I couldn't have said that two years ago but I can now.  I know other parents struggle with coming to terms with a trach that is long-standing and potentially life long but I am finally to the point it isn't something I worry about any longer.  The trach doesn't make anything about her life less than because she is and will always be greater than the sum of all of her parts.

Gavin, Jackson, Aunt Kristin, Uncle Lonnie, Mommy and I took a quick trip to Portland to visit Grandpa Gil, Grandma and Grandpa McKenney and Jan & Steve.  Jan & Steve were awesome to let us play in their backyard again and this year they even got a slip and slide for us to play on.  We also got to roast marshmallows which is one of our favorite activities.  It was sad to leave after having so much fun but we promised to come back again soon!

Although I will be out of town for my first soccer game on Saturday, I did make my first practice.  A bunch of kindergarten girls kicking around a soccer ball is a beautiful thing - okay maybe not beautiful but definately fun to watch!  Thanks to Aunt Kristin for the super cute soccer outfit for practicing!

Sandy City's Hot Air Balloon Festival was perfect this year!  The weather was great and we were able to see the balloons get off the ground in the morning and light up at night along the promenade.  Grandma Smith went with me to both the morning and evening events and she even got up and danced with me to the music of a local band.
