It was the day that Mommy was dreading - time to take Grandma to the airport so she could go home to Portland. Grandma hasn't been on a plane in quite some time (prior to 9/11) so Mommy talked with her about all the fun things about going through security - shoes off, liquids in a ziplock bag, etc. I think Grandma was a little nervous so she didn't sleep so well last night and was up bright and early this morning. She let Mommy snap a few pictures before she left which is a big deal because Grandma hates getting her picture taken!
Grandma got to the airport in plenty of time and it was pretty quiet so it didn't take long to get her bag checked in. Mommy walked her up to security and waited to make sure she got through. Good thing she did because Mommy was holding one of Grandma's bags! Before Grandma had made it through security she realized it was missing and got it from Mommy! She would have left without her favorite lemon bars! Some friendly folks in line helped Grandma through putting her items in the bins and got her through without any problems. Mommy was very sad to see her go and there were lots of tears.
Mommy worked for a few hours and then she and I got to play for awhile since Daddy was working late. I bonked my head pretty good around 6 pm and then Mommy put me in the bath to play. A short time later Mommy noticed that my tummy had gotten really distended and I looked like I was pregnant. A few seconds later I threw up on her (see I never miss!). Mommy wasn't sure what was going on since I had been doing so well on my feedings the last few days. Mommy got out a catheter and pulled about 1/2 my feeding out of my tummy and that seemed to help - my tummy wasn't so big and no more vomiting. In fact I ran around the house until Daddy got home close to 8 pm. An ER visit avoided!

I really crack my Grandma up! She started laughing while watching someone on TV and that got me laughing which got her laughing harder and on and on it went! Grandma has to head back to Portland tomorrow and I will be very sad to see her go. Mommy says she hopes to make a trip out to Portland soon so that Grandpa Larry has a chance to meet me in person since he couldn't make the trip. Love you Grandpa Larry!

Mommy figured out the trick to getting me on Grandma's lap and staying there - a book! Grandma read "So Big" about Elmo about five times this morning but I don't think she minded.
Because I did so well at IHOP last night, we decided to go to Mimi's this morning for breakfast. Mommy was smart and called ahead and it was a good thing - the place was packed. We got seated pretty quickly though and Mommy poured some tomato juice in an empty creamer cup and that kept me quiet until it was time to leave. It was pouring rain so Daddy went and got the car and brought it around so we didn't get soaked!
Henry hadn't been feeling well since last night but he seemed to perk up a little when we got home this morning. He spent a little time outside and then jumped up on Mommy's lap for some cuddle time. Within a few minutes he jumped back down and when Mommy looked at her lap she was horrified. Apparently, his tummy was not quite back to normal yet and he had went potty all over her lap. Mommy didn't want to move and get it all over the chair so she tried calling out to Daddy. She was so disgusted that when Grandma kept asking her what was wrong she just kept saying she needed Daddy! Grandma went to get him from the office and he thought it was pretty funny. After a quick outfit change and hauling out the little carpet cleaner it was all taken care of. Henry was sent back to bed until he felt better.
In the afternoon I went down for a nap while Grandma and Mommy watched movies and Daddy played on the computer. It started to clear up a little by late afternoon so we all headed to a little Mexican place for an early dinner. Since I only took one short nap and my parents didn't bring any toys to play with I started to get grumpy towards the end. Mommy and Grandma were feeling pretty good though after having a yummy blended margarita. (Looking at the glasses, I think Grandma drank more than Mommy!) When we got home, it was time to get to bed so Grandma got to watch me get my trach change tonight and then I was off to sleep.

I finally made it up onto Grandma's lap today when she helped me put my shoes on. And as you can see, so did Henry Lee! He hadn't been barking at her the last few days but hadn't gotten too close to her yet. All of a sudden he jumped up on the couch and laid on her lap like he owned it!
Grandma got to see what a good girl on am when we all went to dinner at IHOP tonight. I played with some crayons and the little cups of creamer and barely made a peep. By the time we got home I was ready for a bath but it took me quite some time to fall asleep tonight. Mommy and Grandma watched a movie while I settled down and finally fell asleep.

Mommy and Grandma had a great night in Napa and after a wonderful breakfast, there was one more bit of pampering before they headed out of town. Mommy booked Grandma for a deep tissue massage at St Pierre Massage just a few blocks from Churchill Manor. While Grandma was getting her hour massage, Mommy sat in the "Quiet Room" and read a book since Mommy is not a fan of massages.
They made it home by mid-afternoon and I was excited to see them. Lucille and I had gone to the park earlier in the day but now it was raining. Grandma brought me a present, though, to keep me entertained - a new baby doll! It was much smaller and lighter then my Cabbage Patch boy and I took to it right away. It has a squeaker so we'll have to keep that a secret from Henry Lee or he will think it is a new toy for him! As you can see above, I even fell asleep with her tonight!
I am still warming up to Grandma but my furry brother Chili has already become good friends with her. In the evening before bedtime he likes to hang out next to her on the couch. He's really going to miss the extra attention!

Mommy and Grandma got a little play time with me this morning before they needed to hit the road to head to Napa. While Mommy was showering I played ball with Grandma and we are becoming good friends. Grandma was a little disappointed to leave I think because she is afraid she'll have to start all over with me when they come back tomorrow!

It was a great ride down and Mommy made it to downtown Napa without any problems. First on the agenda was for Grandma to get her hair done. They had a little time before the appointment so Grandma and Mommy walked around the little shops. The economic down turn seems to have hit hard with lots of shops closed from the last time Mommy was in Napa. They found the doll shop was still open though and Grandma bought me a baby doll. It is much smaller and lighter than my Cabbage Patch boy so it would be easier for me to cart around with me!
While Grandma got her hair done Mommy read some magazines and relaxed then it was time to check into the bed and breakfast. Churchill Manor is where Mommy and Daddy got married several years ago and it hasn't changed a bit. Grandma and Mommy had their dinner out on the porch and in the evening had some wine and cheese in the parlor. Without a tv in their room they had plenty of time to talk before it was time to go to bed. Daddy sent Mommy a picture on her cell phone of him and I together and then she got to talk to me on the phone before I went to bed.

After the throwing up yesterday, Mommy decided to tinker with my feedings. She sped them up to 1/2 hour from an hour but she reduced them to 20 calories per ounce instead of 30 calories per ounce to help my tummy. It seemed to do the trick and no more vomiting! But I was still very grumpy and did not want Mommy far from me all day. I kept pointing to my foot and signing "hurt". Mommy finally decided that the site of my IV from the ER must be bothering me and gave me some Tylenol. Within about a half hour I was much more my normal self so Mommy thinks I have probably been fighting a tummy ache and some pain from all the poking they did to my feet in the ER.
Mommy and Grandma did sneak off to get a pedicure this morning. Can you tell whose feet are who? They got the full treatment including hot wax and a hot stone massage. In the afternoon, Mommy and Grandma took me to the park. I didn't want to sit on the swing long but I loved running through the grass without any shoes on. I really liked watching all the other kids play.
Although I wasn't ready yet to sit on Grandma's lap I am starting to warm up to her a little more. The dogs were too tired after their day at the day care so the went straight to bed tonight.
